GI Junk Removal stemmed from a desire to serve the community. What started as two property managers finding a solution for a much needed service in their industry soon became a way to provide services to all neighbors in the Kansas City area. When Katie Mitchell, a long-time teacher, mom of five, and active community member, stepped into operations, she realized how many people have junk removal on their never-ending to do lists. Now, as owner of GI Junk Removal, Katie’s vision for the future of the small business is all about the people. She’s passionate about providing junk removal services that transcend a one-time, profit-based transaction and become a long-term relationship between the company and its customers. People are the priority, and the team leads by that vision in every junk removal job, whether it is at a multi-family community, a commercial property, or someone’s home.

Hi! I’m Kate, the owner-operator of GI Junk Removal. My vision for GI Junk Removal goes beyond clearing spaces – it’s about building relationships and serving the community. I spent over a decade teaching high school English in the same town where I attended college and began my own family. I’m now a bonus mom to one and a mom to four. I believe in community – it takes a village, and our goal at GI Junk is to be a part of your village.

For our commercial customers, we work to really get to know the property managers and their properties. We make extra trips to those properties to provide “boots on the ground” updates and learn the names of maintenance technicians.

GI Junk proudly gives back to our local Liberty community as well as the greater Kansas City area. In Liberty, we sponsor and help with clean up at the Fall Festival and Fourth of July Fireworks Show, produced by the Liberty Chamber of Commerce. Our team donates to Flourish Furniture Bank on a regular basis where furniture and household items are recycled back into the community to families who are starting a new chapter. As AAKC members, Kate is an active member of the Community LINC committee, a transitional housing organization with a mission to “end homelessness for this generation and the next.

YES! Not only do we offer military discounts, but we also offer discounts for returning customers.
Yes! In order to provide accurate and affordable junk removal pricing, we need to come see the junk in person to determine how large and heavy the items are.
There are many pieces that factor into junk removal costs. Our team first looks at the weight and size of the objects being removed. They then estimate the time involved in removing them. That allows them to estimate labor costs and dump fees. Of course, our team must also include the overhead of insurance, truck and trailer upkeep, and gas. Our team will also discuss additional fees if the junk removal presents a risk for our employees.
No. Our owner, Matt, is a veteran. Our employees are actually former students of Matt and his wife, Katie. Both Matt and Katie taught high school English. When GI Junk started taking off, they found former students they knew they could trust to do quality work for customers. Matt helped veterans transition into civilian life; he is now using those skills to help former students who are hard-working but not college-bound transition to a line of work they excel at.

For most junk jobs, two friendly GI Junk employees will arrive. We sometimes bring more team members to handle large-scale projects such as property cleanouts or multiple unit cleanouts quickly. Your junk removal expert will explain everything so there are no surprises.
